I can see you now with your baseball cap on backwards doing this and bouncing with it .

Must have been hard lifting your hands to play these chords with all that bling on your hand.

Left some nice clean loops on the end aswell lasswell. :-)

Go Shorty Go shorty it’s ya….

I should add Hip Hop is old school. Also if its crunk and Lil John or Timbaland its also Kraftwerk and German trance, if its the pretty boys and girls its Tamala and Motown, hell its even been Elton John. Michael Mcdonald and the friggin cast of the musical Annie.

So you are in good company. :-)

Although “old style” is historically “old style”, I suppose, when I hear something in this style I am more inclined to just think “right style” and not feel all period-piece about things.

The punch of the melodic line is very nice. The sense of space around the vocal is nice. The way everything is clear and hard-hitting is nice. The horns sound a bit more virtual or subdued than usual to me—perhaps a bit of fx to give them a bit of xciter might have been fun.

Wow! this is good. You really have given it a sense of soul. I like the way it sounds in my headphones, like a song and not a mix.

You did a great job here. People everywhere should get to hear this.

Hey Gurdonark. Thanks for the kind words. I do agree with you about the horns. I did this quite quickly and should have probably sat on it a few days. I probably would have filtered the electric piano in the intro as well. Thanks for listening!

Songboy3, you are a favorite on Pax Stereo Tv ( www.paxstereo.tv) with your Loveshadow collaboration “THE Reason ! (Somethin Special)”. My partner Victor Allen says it is one of his recent favorites. Keep up the good work, and we will be featuring you more soon. We will post and send links. Peace & Blessings! - Mario Hemsley, Pax Stereo Tv

(I’m not a real fan of current popular hip hop because the formula is very cookie cutter-ish and soul-less (in general). I love the more musical old school vibe.)

I have to say i agree with you on that. It seems like most artist are watering down the music to get a hit. The more simplistic, the bigger the hit.

I really love what you did here and thanks for the loops at the end.

Also agree to your statement, there was a time when I produced sort of that, but never felt really comfortable with the overall mood of hip hop.

So now this hot remix has all required coolness and all possible soul that I do really love. Completely cool and nice track. Yo, Yo man!! ;-)

I love this mix! I can definitely feel the old school influences with the drums and the more soulful sound, what’s impressive is you keep it both old school and current creating a perfect mix.
As far as the instrumentation I love the strings that come in during the first verse, I like the electric piano chords that go throughout the track, the electric guitar adds a nmore funk oriented feel to the track that I definitely liked.
I’m a die hard hip-hop fan but I too dislike the sparse oversimplistic hip-hop that’s become commonplace nowadays.
A great mix, keep ‘em comin’.
