Then join us for the Alchemy Remix Event, where we’ll delve into the mystical process of musical creation, drawing inspiration from the ancient art of alchemy itself.

Just as the alchemists sought to transmute base metals into precious gold, we too will unearth elements within, take disparate sounds and, through collaboration and ingenuity, forge them into something truly extraordinary.

Our remix event will begin with the first stage of alchemy, the Nigredo. We’ll then move through the next phases of Albedo, Citrinitas, and Rubedo — week by week. Watch here in the forums as each element of the alchemical process is revealed.

Nigredo (The Blackening): Pells & Samples, July 10-17

Every great work begins with the Nigredo, the blackening — also termed the dark night of the soul and the stage of deconstruction. In this phase, from our own shadows, we create spoken word, pells, and samples. From the deep corners of our subconscious, we unearth aspects of ourselves that have been buried and remain unhealed.

Before the rawest of elements can be transformed, they must be exposed. As you write, compose and create, allow your spirit to feel anguish internally that you’ve dissociated from, that has become separate from your spirit. The process of transmutation, though it can at first be painful, begins here.

Citrinitas: The Yellowing (Remixing!)

Refinement and Collaboration

The Citrinitas, or yellowing, signifies the moment of awakening, the dawn of a new understanding. This is the heart of our collaborative journey! In this phase, we’ll actively engage with each other’s creations.

Share your evolving remixes, provide constructive feedback, and be open to integrating the ideas of others. Perhaps someone else’s bassline will perfectly complement your melody, or a fellow alchemist’s percussion will unlock a new rhythmic dimension in your track.

This is where the magic of our community truly shines, as diverse perspectives blend to enrich the collective work.

Rubedo: Refine & Share
The Reddening – Integration and Mastery

Finally, we arrive at the Rubedo, the reddening – the culmination, the moment of integration and mastery. This is where all the elements, refined and purified, are brought together to form the magnum opus.

Your remix will reach its full potential, a vibrant, living creation born from the collaborative crucible. This is where the individual parts transcend their original forms, becoming a unified, resonant whole.

In this phase, pells, samples and remixes combine and are shared both here in our community and in new ways.
