The commercials for one of my favorite commercially produced confections used to say “two great tastes that taste great together.” Same goes here. From the first time I heard the dual magic of LS and SB3 I knew it was a match made in heaven.

You got me and the Missus sitting here going “Wow.” She asked me & I’m really starting to think that we’ve got some kind of karma happening or something. Everytime you’ve touched one of the a cappellas, I (..And I know I’m not alone with this idea…) am sincerely stupified, confused and in awe of the amazing work you do. This is not to belittle the other stuff you do and have done. You’ve got enough Editor’s Picks to put that idea to rest! But I dunno, LS - we got some serious chemistry at work! I hear stuff like this & I gotta ask myself; What the HELL is going on?!? Pure magic, Sir. It’s jazzy, it’s R&B and the one thing that really touches me is it’s the blues: Not in the arrangement but in the depth of feeling. The Heart’s regret, indeed. Forgive me if I sound like a kiss-ass but I sit-up a lil’ bit straighter when I hear your music coming down the pike.

It has been said that the look, the feel, is all about cotton. Cotton, like this mix, has its origins from ancient exotic locations. Now, the fluffy little balls have pulled themselves through a history riddled with harshness and struggle. So what do cotton and this piece have in common. When you slip that cotton shirt over, you don’t feel the struggle, you feel the soft fit, the cool breeze blowing against your skin, it feels like home. Loveshadow, you certainly have a feel man. You and songboy, hmmm….

and Smokeyish (as in Robinson) and Cookish (as in Sam). Seriously this is profoundly serious classic RnB, the kind of magic that may cause a housewife to vacuum naked whilst drinking Puligny Montrachet (Les Combettes would be cool). Oi vey.

Wail, ya just fergot one more descriptor there, ol pal. “Loveshadow-ish”. Which, I thank, is ever bit as good as “lutherish” (ya did mean Martin didn’t ya?) and “jarreauish” (which, I’m just guessin here, is what the Frainch keep Mayonnaise in) and lastly “quinceyish” (which, if memory serves, was a TV show starrin ol Jack Klugman about a forensic pathologist who couldn’t leave well enough alone). But seriously, LS, you just might be right up there with ol Mr. Jones at that. You are without a doubt the king…no…the dang Nabob of smooth. And ifn ya got a dang ring, I guess I’m willin ta kiss it. Ya stinkin ol poot, ya.

Course, when ya got a vocal as good as ol Frank’s I guess a six year old partially deaf Bassett hound might even turn in somethin listenable :-)

No doubt about talent and a professional production as well for a wonderful collaboration.

I really hope for you both that your songs will only not be published here on ccmixter, but hopefully being detected from the musical business soon. This tight music has a huge fan community.

Im not suprised at all by this, knew when Songboy posted new tracks that a certain someone would jump all over them and create something perfect, and well he did didnt he.
LS you are close to having to change your avatar again, all those little eyes on the Ed pick page are kind of freaky! Well done to the both of you.

After listening i don’t know how many remixes of yours, (to many) one thing always come into my mind how come people as talented as you don”t work for major record labels as a producer!!!
So many mediocre producers have this kind of spots in key positions that don’t even know what the hell is going on…

classy production as always top 10 mix for sure and always something to learn from your production LS

ok, definitely not doing anymore songboy songs. i will never _ever_ do as much justice as this has done for frank’s vocals.

i wrote a lot of shit here and kept erasing it because it didn’t seem like enough. but really, at some point both of you need to stop releasing things for free on ccmixter and aim a little higher because with something of this quality there’s no reason someone shouldn’t be interested in putting it out.
