Made me smile. Nice vocals and great use of the guitar track. A few adjustments of the mix will make it even better (lower the volume and add some compression on the vox, lower the guitar and add some compression….)
|

Thanks! I’m glad to hear it made you smile. Your track made me smile!
As for technical issues — I’m still trying to figure it all out. While I can certainly lower volume, as for compression…I’m still trying to figure that out! This was recorded on a Fostex VF160 (old school, I know!). I am open to tips! As I said — this is my first! (I guess I’m doing a bit of growing up in public here.) |

I am totally bowled over by this, SJ! I love everything about it - your fab singing, the happy, summery feeling it generates, the gorgeous backing track. And to me (Miss Messy Glitch herself) the sound quality is amazing. A really outstanding first mix. You should be feeling bloody proud of yourself. xxxx

I love this. You turn a corner when you can sing and produce as well.
Its a great summery song reminded me of Frankie by the Pointer Sisters that for them was a completely out of character song to their soul productions that became a global hit. Here’s hoping :-) Nice one . |

What a fun and fantastic debut for a remixer! The vocals are spot-on, with sweet lil’ harmonies. Everything is synced well. Nice job!

Nothing wrong with growing up in public. More people should do that in stead of writing song after song only for them to wither away on their hard disk. And if this is your first step in growing up then you’re already well underway. Fun and cool stuff.

Whoa girl, hang on a second a frisbee just skimmed the top of my head. Wasn’t this the only good song on the soundtrack for “Beach Blanket Bingo” - so sophisticated they had to cut it?
Forget cute, the brave-o-meter has shattered as has the competency recording device. This is great. All that compression and other junk is just sliding a few virtual faders around, blah blah blah, what you did here is way bigger than that, trust me! You go girl!!! |

When you go to Grand Bahama, sometimes you get lucky enough to ride to the snorkeling beach with a driver with a smoking cool radio.
The radio might feature choruses of gospel singers, or a talk show about island people. On the kind of June day when you can swim with giant manta rays, you hear a gentle pop dub sound like this. You feel almost like an eavesdropper as the sound resonates through the car, as if you know that this kind of simple fun exists in this magic place and not in the more complex places of your daydreams. Yet as you glide underwater, diving toward grouper, you hear the song in your head, and revel that you’ve got some simple dub left in you after all. Great fun. Way to go. |

Oh man! This is FANTASTIC! Lighthearted, rhythmic, fun, a blast to listen to. It sounds like you had a really good time mixing and singing this, and that comes through quite clearly in the final mix. One of the best songs, I’ve heard in a long time

Coming from you DoK — that is quite a compliment! The elements were just so there — the great Neurowaxx track which inspired the tune and then of course Haskel’s terrific guitar playing which is perfectly tasty! I’m so glad to hear you like it! |

Wonderful song Sackjo!
I dig the “simplicity” of it. Good backings, good groove and wonderful vocals, not to forget the lyrics that have a lot of charme and truth in itself! Hey, what do you need more for a summer cilled song like this? Heartful congratulations for the edpick and the “first” remix! Huge bravo! |

Not to take away an iota from the song itself (after all, I edpick’d it)…
but it’s clear to me that a lot of this outpouring is in direct reaction to how cool a citizen you’ve been since arriving at the site - which, if I’m honest, factored into the edpick too. You’ve demonstrated an amazing amount of positive vibe with your joyfully energetic (+500 reviews in 5 months!!!), exuberant style. So it should be no surprise that the community, given the opportunity, (over and above the 50 remixes of your uploads), jumps at the chance to give a piece of the love back to you. Thanks for making the site a better place to hang out! |
.
Needless to say, I find ccMixter to be an amazing place! This community is filled with such a wide variety of creative people who repeatedly impress me with their musical efforts, and continually offer new ways of hearing, listening and participating in music. ccM is expansive enough so that there is room for everyone. I do not know if I can even fully communicate my gratitude for somehow landing here.
Kudos to you Victor for all of your efforts and work — you are elemental in providing this platform for so many of us to not only express ourselves, but to experience the expression of others in an environment that is full of good will, support and encouragement. Your commitment to the musical conversation allows those of us involved infinite exploration of sound and relationship. And of course thanks for the ed pick, which if I am honest, did take me by utter and complete surprise, as has the incredible enthusiasm for this song. So thank you for everything! |

How extraordinaire cool, Susan. This song is so……French. You know this country (I’m still in France) have some really cool people and some really cool bars. The cool people always wear this season’s shades. They just look so smart. They have so much attitude. This is the sort of music they listen to. This is the music they play in those bars.

I really can’t add anything more to the great comments before me, so kudos on a very well ‘synced’ song. All the elements gel expertly and the vibe is pure. It’s almost like the anti-MIDI anthem. Natural, innocent and real!!! Me likes.
On a rambling note, I can envision this song in a movie scene in a bar with a bunch of festive drunks, this song playing in the background, ultimately fading into a seque of a heavily echoed and reverbed Blue Velvet (cliche, I know), that is probably going to lead someone down a hallway to a bad, bad place. Yep, I’m rambling. This song just moves me I guess. |
.
Well Mr. Beat Gorilla — that is a fine association indeed! Keep on rambling and see where it leads you! Thanks so much for listening, and taking the time to let me know you like the song. Sure do appreciate it. (I love your new avatar pic by the way — you are just adorable!)
