Yes, it counts, and it’s maybe the side of you that i prefer..your voice, a guitar..and no effect around..just like that..”à nue”..(It’s the moment that i love when i’m writing a remix). It’s like if you were singing just beside of us. Nice song, Miss, and your ‘capacity’ to write song after song with the same emotion is really impressive..

I don’t want to speak for other people, but I can’t imagine that LS wouldn’t appreciate this use of his guitar work; the sparseness works very well, your vocals/lyrics have an intensity and intimacy that plays against the mood of the sample nicely. Sometimes one instrument and a voice are all that’s needed…

A few years ago i worked with a singer, who because she did not play any instruments or knew anyone who could, had managed to write an album of songs against other already recorded music from her CD collection.

What was fascinating was the new vocals ignored the melody and lyric timing of the original underneath and found a new layer.

Where she needed to forget the entire track she would confidently go off as if she could hear it change in her head.

And that’s what i think you have done here but with more purpose and design. If i were in the same room we could have made some simple guitar decisions to marry the two parts more closely.

What i can hear though is a change in the delivery and tone of your voice to get near to the guitar and it sounds great. Very expressive.

I am so glad you found some inspiration in the guitar track as that was the purpose of uploading it.

Bravo KT, I like that vulnerable quality - reminds me a bit of PJ Harvey - not the voice so much as the feeling (hope you don’t hate her!)

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I am glad I took the reversed drum track and ambient noise out now (seriously).

Sweet and intimate. You showed great
restraint with this languid beauty; by leaving out the extraneous.

You know, I must remix this. This is raw and emotional. I’m curious how it would be on the other side of the spectrum.
Beautiful, really.

Thanks. Finished it fairly quickly, I might add.
Confession: it was a tough one to mix for me personally.

Wow, that’s something! I am tired of hearing vocals that are too heavily treated with reverb and don’t sound like humans sing them. At last I get a real person to listen to! Thank you… really, thank you.

You have a real gift to carry emotion so well on your voice without trying too hard (another thing I hate, having emotion blasted at me with flashing neon lights like the little signs in the car wash - I can see the soap, I don’t need the sign ;-).

Keep doing what you are doing, KT, you do it very, very well. This is a great track. Another case where less is clearly more.

i agree with all the reviews here, sometimes less is more.. not sure if im hearing right, but if your using Live, the sample should not be set to “beat”, change it to “complex” (or anything else) as the guitar sounds a bit clicky. Still, I love it, your vocals are perfect.

well spotted lord of slumber- never managed to notice that bit of functionality- have been processing all samples and audios through the ‘beats’ mode. I changed the guitar to complex and the vocal to tones- I think it’s better. Brad is not the only who sux.

Another really great vocal.

You have the ability to put a little magic into your stuff that is very special. Great talent which is highlighted in this sparse arrangement.

This morning I was watching a video interview with the chess player Irina Krush, a strong International Master who is the current US women’s champion.

She was describing a game in which her attack offered to yield an elegant smothered checkmate, one of those picture-book ways of defeating an opponent which arises in chess problem books and fantasy analyses.

On the surface, her position was simple, and the artistry was easy.
In fact, though, the simplicity required a great deal of finesse in order for her to find the winning combination. A casual observer might have thought she could pull it off without effort—but in fact amid the simplicity she found a solution that the casual observer would missed.

She won that game, and had a lovely set of images and ideas to share in a video interview.

You won this song in the same way—and have an editor’s pick, but also a lovely thing to keep and have. In chess we speak of zugzwang, a position which forces the opponent to choose one of two unenviable choices. Perhaps its inverse is this song—when you’ve given the listener two tracks which are entirely enjoyable. Well done.

No it doesn’t count. This is much, much more awesome than the term remix can express. But since we don’t have an accurate way to describe it yet….

Awesome remix.

Kaer - a beautiful offering…has a very present immediate and spontaneous even, feeling…the emotion in your voice sustains the piece throughout…I get a real Bohemian mood and an atmosphere of longing which I always hear in your vocals.

Like this backwards way of remix. We all ad music to pellas, you add lyrics to instrumentals. Very good. If you like electronic (instrumental dance) I’ve always wanted to add lyrics to my tracks.

It doesn’t seem backwards to me. I can only play piano and sing, I am completely at the mercy of all you talented folks for drums, guitar, ambient noise, and all sorts of other instruments. I sing a lot of secret dance music, so PM me if you are interested…..
