You made me forget I was sick of FM remixes!!! Nice!

Very good job. This is a fresh and wonderfully done remix. You deserve a turntable! ;)

Thank you so much Porchcat, that’s such a great thing to say. I’m not a big rap fan so found the idea and reality of working on this track pretty tough. Especially as I’ve never done this before - and had to learn Logic Express from scratch in the process.
From listening to the other FM entries, I didn’t think anyone would like this at all!!

Great mix, seen as we both used the same sample in our beloved REASON, it felt like i was hearing a remix of mine when i switched it on, it was a great feeling. go and listen to mine and you might get the same. One thing though, if you can go back to it and try and sync up the vocals it would be perfect because that was the only thing that lost it for me, otherwise this is a fantastic track and well worthy of its editorial pick, well done Tarq.

I didn’t want the vocals to be absolutely smack on. i wanted some looseness in there to go with the general feel of acousticness and ‘live’. In the actual track they aren’t smack on either.
I listened and yeah, have to say i didn’t recognise the sample straight off!!… so funny how different people write so differently around the same phrase in the same software!

It’s well produced but it’s all about what sells. This track doesn’t have that catchy sample that would make me want to buy the track in stores. Great production but doesn’t have that catchy sound that would be a top ten chart.

Ha, thanks for your comments. I wasn’t thinking about what sells, as that wasn’t in the competition rules, it was about best mix!!! I only listened to the original after I had done my thing to it. Frankly the original is not my bag, I wouldn’t have bought it! I like melody and tune. i wasn’t thinking about dancing to it either, just to turn it more into a ‘song’ than a eminem/rap/westcoast thing.
It’s just an interpretation, making some loops up to fit the parts of the vocal to make it a song, vary it up a bit and come up with something that was unusual. The rap is quite ‘hard’, the music lets the words dominate but hoefully takes that edge off the attitude - hope that places where my head was at when i did it :-)

Well, wow,…
Surely different and speakin for myself a bit strange… couldn’t really dance throughout the track but it rocks still!
the guitars remind me of tool somehow, though bein chilly funky and somewhat spanish?
Nice idea, cool shit!!

This is great, it’s good to know that one of the tones of Fort Minor remixes is so good and so original. Hip-Hop is not mi kind of music but you make it sounds realy especial.

Good stuff man :-))
A great tune to listen to.
Especially liked the organ and Piano parts.
Keeping in mind that you created the guitar parts with loops, the match with the vocals is pretty good.

I like this beat. Someone said the offset was cool, I have to disagree. I can’t really nod my head to it because of that. As a instrumental this is very good though, I have no comments about the beat itself.

This Is Crazy. Crazy cool Crazy. Unlikely yes, but it’s working. One of my favorite Remember the name remixes.

interesting take on the original, when you said you used some backbone loops that came with the program… which ones did you use exactly and which sounds did you create on your own (as in, which loops did you assemble by hand)?

Don’t let anybody dis your work man! That was awesome! I think that some people are just jealous you did such a good job straight out.
