ccMixter is 5 years old! In celebration, Creative Commons and DJ Vadim (who put the ‘U’ in Imaginashun) are joining forces again - with you! When you sign up for the October ‘09 Secret Mixter you promise to remix somebody that you will be assigned. Maybe you’ll be assigned DJ Vadim - maybe he’ll be assigned to you. So, upload some samples or upload an a cappella (or 5) and join the Secret Mixter Oct ‘09 Do I have say how freakin cool this is? Really? Didn’t think so… |

OOOO! Fun. (Yes, I must have fun.) Great new functionality and interface for the secret mixter sign up too. And congrats all around Victor for a job consistently well done and for getting ccM so splendidly to where it is today!

I cannot resist the urge to emphasize what an amazing range and intensity of “pure goodness” this entails… That is all for now ;-)
Also: I wish the party when I turned 5 had had this level of coolness-factor; yet, somehow a Big Wheel was enough at the time.. |

This is nothing short of awesome. It makes me so happy to see the idea go so far. Thanks again to Victor for the hard work of coding this into the site and keeping this fun going!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all involved in inventing the idea of the Secret Mixter and it’s development. I have been listening to samples and mixes this morning with a big smile on my face. I’ve got no idea what I am doing with them yet but that’s half the fun.

first, a big thanks to victor fourstones for once again enabling this with fast and easy automated processes and thingies. considering the guy seemingly lives out of a suitcase and probably has more passport stamps than jason bourne, he continues to silently be the gatekeeper. :)
one thought as i’m compiling my source for this. the “sample” link victor sent out is a great tool and resource (and time saver) for me by shooting me directly to uploads which have samples attached. awesome! but a reminder that this isn’t the only source available, and you can just remove the word “sample” and refresh and go to the artist’s main upload page. i mention this mostly because i found a nice 16 bar instrumental intro on a remix i can chop out and use that fit’s my desired bpm. so don’t be putoff if you don’t see alot of source from the “sample” link. also check their main upload page for ideas. |

heh, i’m done. i wonder if i beat colab. :)
i’ll probably sit on it and listen to it next week and probably overtweek it then, but really like how it turned out. helps i got lucky with my draw. |

I’m reading this thread and I’m thinking that we’ve got a lot of new blood in this mixup and people who are struggling may be put off by these posts of “I’m done!”
My hats off to you guys and I’m sure you’ve all done stellar work, but I am taking this challenge as an opportunity to learn some new stuff with my software. I’m also not even sure how I want to use my samples or which ones I want to use. There’s a form of remix I could have done very quickly (which I may still have to use if I dilly dally over this too long) but it’s not a race and there are solid creative reasons to take your time, not to mention practical ones. So use the time you have people (if you want to) and let the show-offs do their thing (he he ;-) ). |

Hi essesq, Do please forgive us for our obnoxiousness…it was truly not intended to be a method of intimidation. I personally haven’t created something new in a while, so I was ‘chomping at the bit’, as they say. It’s good to hear that you are taking your time to come up with a finished product though. All too often I hear remixes where it’s obvious they were done way too quickly, with no consideration to aesthetics. I look forward to hearing your contribution. :) |
|
.
I was joking, but also was speaking on behalf of others who may be new to this concept. My last remix took me just shy of 9 months to complete ;-). I don’t really think anyone’s being obnoxious, but I do appreciate your time making your considerate reply. It is this type of care and consideration that keeps me around this place. Looking forward to hearing your stuff too :-).

Yeah, my original post was kind of in-jokey, as colab finished the last one hours after it was posted. take your time and do it right. not a race.
the agony of sitting on it is worse than the stress of trying to get done in time. :) |

Woo-Hoo! I get to hear secret mixter tracks today!
I finished mine early like some others in this forum post…and remixed and tweaked for three days…couldn’t help myself. It turned out the third one is the best, I think…I’m actually nervous about posting it. I think I’ll listen to it again, maybe once or twice…or more :) There’s a little voice in my head saying “just let go” lol Thanks Victor, for making this so cool! Can’t wait to hear all the new music from everyone! |

These secret mixters are fantastic – some chemistry about them is really enjoyable for me. 99% of my music listening is done in the car – I can’t wait to dump the playlist into my ipod and go. Cheers!

I had a lot of trouble uploading my mix, which was almost certainly a problem with a flaky connection on my end. However, the Secret Mixter upload page went blank (literally blank body, but top and side bar present) for me after a while. I was able to get to the regular upload page, and after a couple of tries, I was able to upload my mix. However, I now cannot add the secret mixter tags to my mix. I’m having atrocious luck. ( My mix here.) Any help?
*meow* P.S. The tags have appeared. My thanks to the magical admin. :) |
.
Yeah, same. I think the form’s been shut down. I’ll upload mine to my page and hope for the best.
