oh what a treat - a stunning homage to soul music the way I grew up to it. Refined playing and your ever so mature and sophisticated touch on production values.

The ending had me in stitches, but it also totally fits the mood.

Masterful work. Thanks for sharing it!

Ohmuhgoodness!

I’m in NIRVANA! Lasswell got me having having mental, emotional orgasms! I got Loveshadow to the mike…AGAIN! Whose got it better than me?!? Who, I ask you?!?! Lass, you totally hit me where my idols are. This felt like maybe, just maybe I could hang out with Donny, Roberta, Willie Weeks and all those cats on a cut! This is a compliment, a birthday present and just pure Magic made manifest! And then to put the cherry on top (SPOILER!), you got some cool-ass, old-school DJ putting me in context to where my personal gods & icons reside (Doghouse in tha hiz-zouse!)…

Damn.

Y’all sure know to show this brutha some love. I ain’t gon’ cry. I swear I’m not…*sniffle*

I been playin’ Mr Shadow’s take on this song nonstop. Guess I’m gon’ have to add this to the circle!!!

Thank U! Thank U! Thank U!

Well if I created a mental orgasm I guess that’s a good thing! lol! I’m flattered that you like what I did and if it brought a smile to your face then it was worth it to me. Seriously dude…your time is coming. There is a market for your voice. Just keep pushin’!!!

Frank…I have a mix without the DJ thing that I can send you if you like. I didn’t mean to be a SPOILER!

I think you may have misinterpreted what I meant when I wrote ‘spoiler’ in my review. I put that there as a warning so that if folks reading the reviews didn’t want to know how you ended it without hearing it for themselves, then they needing to stop reading and push play! However, I would love a TV track of this so that I could perform this around here this summer! Magnificent, Sir!

I knew you were joking! I was just joking back at you. I’ll make you a “TV” track and I have the mp3 without the DJ. Do you want the background vocals in the “TV” mix?

Damn. I am such a goober sometimes!!! I’d love a version w/o the DJ (which was GENIUS, BTW…) and yes, I’d like the BG vocals intact!

Thanks for putting up again Lasswell! Your exploits here, like LS and Songboy will have their rewards. I can definitely feel the Bacharach thing going on, and the rest of the 70’s feel is excellent. The subtle touches of organ in the background, the strings, the orchestration is all there. So nice and production, you guys really set the bar.

Incidentally, Frank’s voice reminds me of an old friend I had the chance to play with in a funk band that is still around in St. Louis. Bunch of young cats, and we had a few soul type songs so it’s good for many reasons to hear this.

A second track from you today? Now there’s a treat. :)

You have an incredible ear for finding a hook for the break sections; the horn section, the piano line right towards the end - as well as finding sounds that are just right - rhodes that are soft and get the job done without taking over.

This is a beautiful track. Thanks for sharing two in a day. Great way to start the morning. :)

Well… OK.
I cannot withstand the mighty combo of logic, and “Clown-nose Frowny-face”. Your guilt-fu is STRONG!
I need to have this mix out of my head first, though… it might be a while!
