No one told me Diggable Planets had a new joint!!!!!
From a hip hop perspective, this is the best I’ve heard from you and is definitely in the top 5 of ccmixter’s all time list, possibly #1. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but there’s been a very noticeable "change" (I won’t call it improvement since everything is subjective)in your music. But for my ears its incredibly pleasing and keeps getting better and better. I know this site is geared toward spreading the Commons message, but I think the main thing for me has been its ability to be a catalyst for growth. Some of us who have been here since very early on have definitely expanded our horizons musically, especially me, but I hear it in your stuff, too. |

great post pat; teru, you, DU and others have completely influenced my music (even though if it isn’t always obvious), uploads like this one remind me of everything I love about remixing in the first place.
Quote: I know this site is geared toward spreading the Commons message… yea, sure, but that message is only as good as the music — and the message got a whole lot better with this remix |

Driving to work today before hearing this I was listening to Blackalicious.
This is better. Now don’t get me wrong I LUV Blackalicious, Jurassic 5 and the whole pure good vibed hip hop/acid jazz thing but you could drop this at a club I go to and the dance floor would be too full to dance. That sounds like a bad thing but I guess we’d all just jump up and down together and organically give someone with great moves space to dance/perform. (This does happen regularly) Fantastic arrangement, mix, groove, everything in fact and my favourite tune so far here. Simple as that. Absolute respect for a great vibe… EdShift. |

Wow, wow, wow. Thanks everybody.
As I mentioned in my comments, this was a real quick job. I have to say this one has a lot to do with the samples from Tru.ski and Abox J. I got a bit lucky that they matched up so well. Thanks Pat for the Ed pick and noticing my ‘improvement’. I truly believe that I’ve grown a lot thanks to great teachers like you. I learn so much from this site. I can’t even put it into words. Getting feedback from so many people who really, really know their music is just… unbelievable. : ) |

An incredibly effective, solid mix. The sax sounds so good in this mix.

That’s some real nice stuff. There’s nothing better to me than well sampled jazz and that’s what you did.

Pat Chilla already said my first thought on hearing this. Totally a Digable Planets sound! And in my book, that’s ridiculously superb. I’d love to hear more tracks with the same kind of vibe, if not sound, as this from you!! I wish I had half the ear and sense of style you display in this track. This is the frostiest cool and the hippest of the hip-hop.
