Terrific job Ivan! I love seeing your process and appreciate the many ways you work with the samples — exploring them with different treatments, angles and “musical conversations.”

Nice bit of rock. I like the crunchy chords and the vocal treatment.

heh, I liked the crunchy chords too. That was me having fun wacking out a rhythm. It didn’t quite get the bite I wanted, but it’ll do.

ok, the reason why I sound like I’m gushing is because… I am gushing! When I first joined this community, one of the remixters I found for inspiration and awesomeness was wellman :)

Ivan, this is really great. Super melodic soft rock is right up my street and you’ve constructed a very likable mix that demands both a good sing along and some air guitar. The best track I’ve reviewed this morning. Excellent .

This is fantastic Ivan.I went to listen to the pell on this and you just brought this to life. You brought out a felling I just didn’t get from listening to the vocal alone. Don’t get me wrong the vocal is fantastic on it’s own but you really did it justice!!!

I was wondering if you sang them in the same chord progression. It seemed like you did, ‘cos the chords just fit so well (if I shamelessly say so LOL).

Good work. The arrrange is catchy as you said. A nice pop song, and the tweaks on the vocals are catchy too, hehe.

Tech aspects. I find the vocals a little loud. the vox track has a prominent midrange so its cutting thru the mix already, no need for that extra level.

Your guitar distortion riff is very mono to me, and the reverb is quite long too. Have you tried guitar doubling? Use two tracks playing exactly (most the time) the same and hard pan them left right, you can use different amp configs on each side, the sence of space will be better and this will let you space in the middle for the vocals.

Thanks for the detailed tech-tips! Really, really appreciate it.

Yes, I do employ guitar doubling, except I don’t know what it was called. And wasn’t consciously aware of what I was doing, i.e. creating space in the middle. Will try this technique out for future mixes, where appropriate. Reading your suggestions, I realised I’ve to learn how to record my guitar sound as a dry/ unprocessed signal while still using my audio interface (I’m using a Line6 KB37). Again, thanks!

I use Guitar Rig. My chain is, guitar > DI inbox (split signal) on goes to an amp for monitoring and the second goes clean to the pc.
When I dont use an Amp, I have to monitor from the software, so the chain is Guitar > DI box > Soundcard > Bus Clean (record) > bus Guitar Rig (monitor).

Your Sound interface (line 6) works like the DI box, just use two inputs, one clean muted to record and the second effected for monitoring. This way you can polish the original sound and will sound more natural, for example using reverbs or delays, you can’t cut a wet signal with reverb because youll notice the cut.

Thanks to your prompting, I’m reading up more and trying to get more information on the line6 support site. To learn how to properly set up what you’ve just described. Thanks again!

It’s more a garage band issue. Check the mixer and routing.

Thankfully there were videos and useful community-contributed info at the Line6 site. I figured out how to set up the audio interface to record the dry signal. Have to thank you again for nudging me in that direction. Cheers!
