Wonderful use of samples! Everything works together quite well. Only issue for me is that it sometimes seems like the vocal timing is slightly off. Other than that, it’s a grade A remix.

a TINY nit, likely negligable (sp?) it could stand a little more vocal nudging at around 3:52 but I can’t stress enough how small that is. beside that…
OUT OF THE PARK! great improvements. congrats. (you should delete the other one, and if you do replace this in the next 3 or so hours use ‘Replace’ from the ‘Edit’ page on this song so you don’t have to go through the whole submission form again.) |

This is very well done. I like the electronica at the beginning the very best. When the song becomes more conventional, it’s still very good, but less interesting for me—with one exception. The sense of "mood" you get with your rhythm section in your riff is great.
The integration of the backing vocals from "Below" is very effective. It’s fair to say that Lisa’s voice is chameleon-like, and you’ve managed to mix it up to get the "bright" side of it rather than the darker side (I, sadly, can’t get anything to sound good without going beyond dark to hellish, but that’s a matter of skill and taste). I like the light electronica break right after "up and took flight, and then "come fair maidens" integrates very nicely. I perhaps would have liked to hear this whole thing as more electronica-laden than it is, almost a Bill Nelson’s Red Noise effect, only less noisy, if you see what I mean. The various samples and loops are quite seamless here. I aspire to be able to do this well one day. The near eastern sound in the latter point of the song is a nice counterpoint, and the percussion here is dead on. Throughout this piece, you resist the urge to overdo percussion and beats, which could slay all the inventive work you’ve done here. I love the way you’ve gotten your transitions to largely come out right, as in the extro, which is very effective indeed. Wow. That was good. |
