Enthralling. In every way. It could be the intro to a spoken word album. Thank you for sharing the story behind this piece, too.

Of course. I find the process and intent very important if not more important than the final product. Because that is where the “meaning” happens. And meaning… that is what we create to justify living. Not happiness, but meaning. People ultimately value meaning over happiness despite the commercials and media selling us the pursuit of happiness (See the “Experience machine” study). Happiness cannot be pursued; it can only ensue. It is the paradox of hedonism. Anyways, yea, I feel I should tell the story if there is one tell, and… I have been in my writing mood.

Thank you morgantj. The natural world is something that means a lot to me and so I appreciate your choosing to take this path in remixing my work. The chainsaw sounds have particular resonance for me… Wait, I’ll explain. My daughter does a radio program for her college radio station and my favorite part of it was a public service announcement she used to play featuring the Lorax of Dr. Seuss fame telling people to protect and enjoy the forests. Last week when she went to do her show she found that the announcement featuring the Lorax was gone from the shelves. It therefore seems fitting that I should show up in this context, with chainsaws ;-).
I am intrigued that you chose to recite any of my work in preparation for creating this. I won’t hold you to your statement that you will upload any of these recitations, but I’ll be happy to listen should you choose to. Thank you again. |

I like the sound of chainsaws. Two tracks that changed chainsaws from tools to musical instruments for me are Timber, by Coldcut and Chainsaw Calligraphy by 16bit.

you never disappoint me. you have a creative, expressive style all your own that pulls me in and takes hold at a very deep level. i loved reading your description and the title is brilliant. the native culture here has always created a deep reverence inside me and your track evokes that. a fantastic combination of sounds. and the end is perfect. I am You.

I love this. The rhtyhms of the sounds bring to mind Ken Nordine (Word Jazz) — you used all of these sounds in such a musical way.
I also appreciate your description of the process. I am a firm believer in honoring that initial creative impulse — it never lets you down. Despite your thoughts about the track, your willingness to go with the initial inspiration illustrates the point as this track is superb! |

OMG! How has Ken Nordine never showed up as a related artists to anything I’ve listened to?!!! I have tons of jazz and spoken word artist and never came across him. This is awesome. So…film noir sounding! I love film noir! Looks like I’ll be buying some new albums tonight! Thank you for sharing that! Yea, if I am feeling it, I just let it go. I really don’t feel right taking credit for it even. I am just a medium or catalyst to the conditions that lead to any particular art piece or music track. I am the sum of all that before me.

In further times I already loved to read the lyrics or other notes on record covers while listening to the music. So it is here. Impressing remix, a journey through sound and vision. The chainsaw sound may be contraversial in sense, but fits so well your sound collage.
