Listen, I don’t know my old school from my elementary school, but I know a kickin’ mix when I hear one. Great job on this one. Some people know that I use my Windows Media Visualizations to test out the production value of mixes I hear (and more importantly mixes I make). I have never seen anything as dazzling as some of the stuff that went on the screen with this one. More please ;-)!

what can I say - another superb Lasswell production. You have such a sweet way with hip hop, it does boggle the ears!

Space Boy Funk..
Can’t ya see that he’s a star….
He’s individual..

and there’s that `old school’ tag again. I wonder if they said that to J Timberlake when he released Signs in 2007. As current as anything i have heard…

Wow..Reminds me of some old Lonnie Listen Smith with a touch of the Blackbryds. Old school R&B/ with a hip hop twist. Really Digging the strings and brass, and that bass is no joke.
Very Well Done. Thanks for the head nod.

I’m in the “I have no idea what old school is” group but this is really good, reminded me of King Britt, actually went and dug out my old CDs. Very well done and enjoyed alot, thanks.

Thanks AT. I don’t know “a lot” about King Britt but I thought he was primarily a house music producer. I’ll have to check more of his stuff out. Thanks for listening!

Fantastic musical work. I’m not a huge fan of this style of rap (I’m more a De La Soul/Tribe called quest kind of a guy); but the instrumentation is outstanding - complements the vocals very well and is balanced just so.

Great work. It’s a good day to come and listen to new remixes here. :)

thanks colab. Yes, I have some friends who are in the same camp as you regarding taste in hip hop (de la soul/tribe etc). I guess I’ve always liked bigger orchestration and sound (with a bit more pop vibe) so I guess that’s how I approach things. I appreciate your comments. ’ )

One question Laswell: What kind of car do you have to proove EQ settings?? ;-)
No matter where you sit behind the wheel, it seems it has no bad influence on your sound or your muisical skills.
Really great old school vibe in a fantastic soundframe.

well…actually I have an old Honda Accord with a pretty decent factory stereo. It’s a pretty great test for my mixes. I did however get some new JBL Monitors with the room correction chip built in. It’s made a huge difference in mixing since I’m unable to treat my room with bass traps etc. Thanks for the nice feedback!

Old Honda Accord?
Your music should be heard with open windows while cruising in a Maybach stretch limousine ;-)
But a Ferrari would go well too!

Years ago, I once had a Diahatsu Jeep that i crudly sampled for a drum kit. The floor pan with the rubber mat made a great clicky kick sound with the flat of your shoe. I hit the seat to get a smacky snare and the indicator sound was a perfect hi hat. I got a tom off the side panel and tuned it into a full set.

Sounded good aswell.

This is a solid mix, I can hear a bunch of other samples on this site that could’ve fit in too…perhaps in the future you could mix in some of those sounds as well. Good work.

I think you’ve produced the perfect style of music for the style of the vox. Fits very, very well for me. A sophisticated funky rap!

My apologies, Lass - I got so into the song that I forgot to leave a review! You & K go together like Macaroni & cheese! This is so funky and smooth at the same time! Lass, you’ve already blessed me with your Eye Magic Mix madness so I guess I gotta come up with something that Kcen and I can wreck together! And don’t worry, Lass - you ALWAYS have work!

I like this one too. The lyrics are great. The rest is great too, but I do like the lyrics…
