You’ve unlocked the cage with this complex, musical simplicity. (Still, I’d love to hear the other mix you worked up too!) Very cool panning treatments and combining of Speck’s expansive ingredient cupboard. I’m walking down to catch the NYC subway, and stop when I hear THIS.

You’ve very much grokked that which is Speck- I’m really liking the evolution of it, how both the backing and spoken-word subtly shift and morph as it progresses.

I love the word grokked! Thanks Duckett!

I’d be really anxious drawing Speck. Great job Jace

Thanks Scomber! The Speckness had to shine through and I’m glad it did. Really, I just had to get out of the way and let his work do its thing.

This has a kind of latter-day-beat feel that I like.

A sign of the times perhaps? Speck has a way of capturing this feel.

That’s a great combination of tracks. When I did that spoken word piece I looked for something to read it to but gave up and uploaded it bare. You found a good one.

You’ve got a lot of great material to choose from. I thought the words and the tone of Quiet Confusion worked well together. They have the same edge. I enjoyed listening to your secret mix btw. Nice work!

YES!!! Totally captivating combo… brilliantly suited. Love this. I hadn’t heard this spoken word from Speck… it’s SO COOL. Thanks for highlighting it with your groovy merger.

When I heard Betty’s Burgundy Dress I was drawn in by the texture of the word. It’s great as it is. When I laid it in on Quiet Confusion, well, it just added that extra color.

Thought you might be interested in what the spoken word actually is.
Basically a writing exercise. Based on my memory of having read John Lennon’s A Spaniard In The Works long ago in which he replaces words with similar sounding words. I thought I’d take Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address (random choice) and go through it phrase by phrase, changing it as I go to whatever came into my mind that sounded similar, not being too concerned about logic. |

HA! What a fun writing exercise! Thanks for sharing!

Such a creative morphing of two of my long-time ccmixter favorites! We can hear the unique styles of both Speck and spinngmerkaba in this - yet the sum is greater than the parts!
