I’m of two minds on this. On the one hand I’m a fan of PorchCat and I like what he’s done with the samples and I appreciate the way he’s worked them to the point that I can barely recognize any of them. On the other hand it’s the first time I’ve been left behind in a Secret Mixter event and I’m a little surprised at how much it actually bothers me that I wasn’t able to open my gift at the same time as everyone else. (Must be triggering some repressed ‘middle child’ issues.)

I like the way the drones and the percussion and all the other elements add up to a rich mix. It takes a cool new angle on first contact.

Wonderfully atmospheric stuff, with great use of textural sounds which all meld together to create all sorts of ominous imagery.

i love the mystery of these long droning notes, layered and spinning. the entrance of the rhythm adds to the energy and tension. each sound has its perfect place on the sonic stage. a wonderful use of source material and the stereo field. bravo.
