UNTETHERED
Utethered Your life of comfort and familiarity shrinking in the distance between where you are now and where you were then Perspective skewed by atmosphere and shadows the inception of decisions unclear so all that remains is the detritus of the years Packed and secured, the boxes stacked and stored Proof that you once lived here. The ground beneath your feet is shaky each step destroying further the integrity of the world that once supported you That love That delight Those moments of abandon where everything was perfect Color and shape, oh so satisfying The place somehow defining the meaning of this life. You try to breathe deep You try not to cry You try to look forward but there’s something wrong with your eyes so that clarity is compromised. Still, you see that errant balloon floating above the rooftops The air currents lifting it, dropping it, tossing it At some point it may become trapped trapped by wires, trapped by time, trapped by embracing limbs that stop its flight. Or it may be released, riding the waves of light through the wind of sighs. ________________________ This is a most heartfelt creation offered to my friends who are working through painful changes in their lives.
