Sub
these pieces really demonstrate your compositional abilities. As pair they tell a story and take the listener on a sonic journey. Wonderful work Sir. |

You are too kind, but your comment is very much appreciated. This was my way of trying to create an ambient(ish) counterpart to Tool’s Wings For Mary / 10,000 Days.

I’m scared Sub. Its like an old girlfriend is stalking me through a cold, wet & foggy Belfast street. I keep looking over my shoulder to see which one she is - but I never get more than a glimpse of a shadow.
And whats the big idea on uploading two tracks in the same day - you trying to move in on my bandwidth? :-). Great ambient soundscape mate. S |

I thought that I could squeeze those two in between your daily doses of tasty tunes while you were away surfing and working on those chocolate-induced add-ons. But rest assured, the bandwidth is all yours for the coming months. Thanks for the duo reviews. |

This took me way far away…makes me wonder, where were you when you made this? (referring to both parts I and II, of course).

Well, there are some places you shouldn’t visit too often. ;-) But thanks for coming along for the ride.

Beautiful. Love those echo-y pulses and diabolical tritone vocal harmonies. Make a good David Lynch soundtrack.

Ah, you actually identified the tritones. Funny how a lot of people mention David Lynch soundtracks when it comes to my more “ambient” pieces. It’s not that I have seen a lot of his movies. I only recently watched Twin Peaks.
Thanks for the compliment. |

again, just a great piece of soundscape. one of my favorite pieces of work by peter gabriel is his work for the film “the last temptation of christ”, which is also some of his least commercial work. this (and the other piece) reminds me alot of that. despite it’s overuse to the point of being cliche, i’d call this cinematic. just excellent sound production to the point of sound personification.

I know Passion (the soundtrack you are referring to), but it wasn’t a conscious influence. I have written a hobo solo (which maybe will see the light of day here in the future) which made me listen to Passion again, because I thought that I had nicked it from there. Thank goodness that wasn’t the case.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to and review both parts and ofcourse for your very kind words. |
