The mellow bits sound like a lost Kansas song, and then on the choruses more like Korn - and then the plucky electro at the end, isn’t like any of that. :) And yes, it very much sounds like the progressive stuff from that mp3.com era of yours (yes, I’ve heard it. :) ) The stellar remix for me is usually the one you wish you were seeing someone do live. And, well, this is definitely one of those songs! It is utterly natural.
