Cool music, interesting vocal samples. Does she mean to say jazz frightens musicians or people in general? Musicians maybe, but people in general… nah, they just don’t like it.

tx for the link CS,
Music is soullll, when we are privileged to express it. Art becomes from what we want to express with passion, some make it and some don’t… what is important in this video is that we can only be wise(r) and happy(er) when we play together (LIVE). |

Thank you. And BTW, as a singer, I feel Christine’s pain, and if it weren’t for ccmixter, I would be very, very lost.

Wonderful remix and fabulous Romancito news flash interview.
I can remember playing jazz in (one horse) Algodones, New Mexico in the 1970s. Sounds like the story hasn’t changed. Would be great to have some pells by Christine Autumn on ccmixter. Thanks for sharing, Sister |

working on it … baby steps. :) Thank you! You played jazz in Algodones — Raphael’s by chance?

I recall the Algodones location served food and there was no stage. Don’t recall the name after 40 years.
I was living in Placitas at the time; Algodones would be considered a local gig LOL Wrt Raphael’s Silver Cloud, yes, I played there once but not in a jazz band. I had forgotten about Raphael’s. I am reading where Raphael’s closed in 2005. During the time that I lived in New Mexico, recall playing most often at Kelly’s Other Side in Albuquerque and recall playing a week long gig at a place in Gallup with a band house in the back. Thought the Gallup place was called the Red Lantern but the Red Lantern is coming up on Google is in Sante Fe. Our primary home base was El Paso in the 1970s (in and out of college daze) with brief stints in New Mexico, California and Florida. From El Paso, we played often in Las Cruces, Ruidoso and Alamogordo. After decades and thousands of gigs, hard to remember all the people and places especially from those early daze. |

Creative, experimental, and darn right engaging! Really cool mix, arrangement, spoken bits, and sung vox.

Thank you so much! I hope Christine decides to let me (and us!) collaborate some more. It will have to be a slow conversion.
