I am so confused. I was so certain that I could fit in if I only entered this remixfight.org. I knew that if I used the same Fourstones construction kit that everyone used, then my mix would sound just the same as everyone else’s. But now I hear this, and I realize—we are all different people. I am beside myself.
I love the horns here, and the way your pitch-shift aims for early Prince, as in my view Prince’s early falsetto songs were one of the most fun parts of his very fun repertoire. When I was 14, we gathered in small houses in the Arkansas countryside to sit under black lights and listen to Curtis Mayfield’s “Superfly” alternate with cuts from “Love it to Death”, Three Dog Night, “Drift Away”, “Closer to Home”, and a world of smooth soul crooners. If I could be 13 again, and dancing with the cute girl in the midriff halter who later had a Number 33 with bullet hit in Nashville, then I’d want to dance with her to this song. But the dance would be over before I could get up the nerve to ask! |

oh man, this sound great. I think the vocals fell off the rails in a few places (?) but the concept is so right on it’s easy to overlook.

Wow, mind-bending! This right here is what makes ccmixter so Funkin’ great…artists interpreting artists, music making music… giving life and color and feeding the imagination.
Thanks MC Jack in the Box, now I’m going to have to practice my falsetto, lol! -J |
