A quick little set of beats is joined by a simple synth melody which then is joined by a nice little panning synth. The vocals then lay in as if they belong in this curious assemblage. I like that bass sound that pops in—really adds heft to things. I like best when you have the little melodic waves of sound in the background. This is a nice electronica reading of this song, which works surprisingly well.
I think that a long-ish break in the middle to explore all these fun melodic ideas might have been interesting, but I enjoyed this one just as it is. |

Thanx Gurdonark. I put the song melody together to the accapella without realizing it was a song at first. Just when I heard her vocals, I knew I had to do something.

It’s an amazing vocal, isn’t it?
This is the second song for her Creative Commons friendly CASH music project. If you want to download and remix the stems for her original instrumental, then you can find them here: http://kristinhersh.cashmus... Kristin’s approach—that the artist and the audience can interact and that she can give more value for her downloads than merely the track itself— is refreshing (and I hope it succeeds in every respect). I rarely mix to melodic ‘pellas, but I must admit that this one and in particular “slippershell” have me wanting to try myself. |

It tells you something about her vocals doesn’t it? It has you wanting to try mixing it.
Maybe she is a siren after all? ;) Thanks for the insight, Gurdonark. I didn’t realise until I remixed her pella that this was an actual song and a performer. |

This is a wonder. To remix that, I had to play along with a loop extracted by a portion of it, studying evry synth part and playing it I understood the complexity of this intriguing texture. Kristin is superb here.
