All kinds of swag in this one. With so many samples, you’ve created some awesome, funky cohesion in this track, from the horns to the flute.

Oh, yes jazz.
Soundtrack of the 60s with a touch of psychedelics. |

Alternate title ‘funk prelude to the afternoon of a firefly’.
I very much enjoyed this transportation of Apoxode’s material into the funk realm. And the vocal choices and placements are perfect. |

Funk-a-delic delight of epic proportions! That flute is so Jethro. :) There are so many intricate sounds flying through the stereo-field, in a rock-track format that hooks the listener. That breakdown section with the vibe solo is brilliant. “Be natural, be spiritual, be free!” (I’m honored to be included).

Funky and jazzy. That flute reminds me of Bobbie Humphrey with that jazzy funky groove. Nice

Be natural! Apoxode’s groove through the New Orleans funk filter. Can’t help but move to this. Old skool meets new skool. Timeless. Flute rocks!

Outstanding! You elevated me for 4.5 min in a funky jazz trance, beaming on the side — I love your use of the samples a lot!
All of your additions charged new life into the stems, from the horn section all the way through to the jazz flute … super star! You have an innate grasp of the 70s musical zeitgeist — I hear how you construct rock and jazz tracks and I’m there :) I appreciate what you have done with this remix, your concept and execution transformed the source material and make me look real good in the process :) Thank you for your hard work and for including me in this awesome track! PS Thank you also for including Snowflake’s vocals, it adds a sweet touch :) |

Thank you supplying those samples! One of the things that I like to do best when I work with material is go against the grain to some degree. I call it genre bending, taking two or more diverse sounds and twisting them into a genre that wouldn’t normally go together.
Really though, my additions to the remixing of your stems is to Highlight them and make them the star of the song. This I tried to do with care and respect. And I’m glad that you enjoyed the tune. Honestly, your stems were a real joy to work with. When I saw that you were my draw, I was ecstatic. As to making you look good, isn’t that the whole point of these Secret Mixters? It isn’t just to show off our skill, but also to showcase the person that we were assigned. Cheers! |

The ’70s, indeed, next iteration of the time-travel subroutine of this mixter and a fresh mixtape for the DeLorean sound machine…had to wait for the flux capacitor to recharge, though… Nice work!

Thank you so much! Your time travel analogy is an intriguing concept.
I’m a huge fan of Back to the Future, though I’m more into Doctor Who (the classic, not so much the “Nu Who”). I had a lot of fun making this track, to try and incorporate Apoxode’s very modern sound with a late 60’s lounge/funk sound, especially with the flute, starting off with a sort of dull flute and saying wait a minute, then really taking off. |
