Excellent and …incredible..! I’ve just listened to the original acappella and the result after your treatment is…incredible…!
Excellent work.

Thanks Ditto. I hacked up her vocal pretty good. It’s passable, but needs some work.

Here is the video for this piece. It uses bits from two public domain movies, The Kill(Grace Kelly) and Night of the Living Dead.

That intro is fun, with the mixture of sound and mild glitch.
I like the way that vocals resonate in the mix, almost as if we were listening to something south Asian and mildly cinematic. The mix is arguably a bit busy during the first 2 minutes. I’d like to hear the bass pulled up a bit, because the bass/vocal interplay might be cool.
I like the taper-and-resume around 1:58. I’ll have to check my balance, but the vox always comes out of one headphone, and it might be fun to have panned it about a bit, as if she were shifting position (a bit more one of the backing vocals does a bit of this). I really like that break into a quieter mood around 3:30. It’s good to leaven up the piece this way.

The backing riffs sometimes don’t punch as hard as they might, although it’s very tricky, because you wisely avoid overwhelming the vocals. I like that little keyboard/synth melody line that propels along in the background.

A lot of imagination went into this—a really complex and interesting mix. It doesn’t all work for me, but I think you have really put a lot of thought into this one, and it’s really a cool mix.

Thanks G. All very good comments and valid issues. I posted it w/o being fully happy with the release. The dynamics could be stronger and the vocal pitch shifting a bit smoother (for my taste at least). At six minutes, it’s a bit long for my short attention span.

I’m going to sit on this for a month or so, then remix it again. I’ve found that letting these pieces simmer for a while really changes my perspective.

Thanks for the review.
