Process
Although I usually work with samples as patches for my synthesizer, I decided this time to use only my DAW to create a more traditional mash-up remix. I altered a number of the samples via pitch shifting and time shifting, but I wanted each sample to be recognizable from its source material. The samples were extremely easy to use for this purpose.
Other Notes
My own music nowadays tends to be
little melodies made using a single synthesizer voice or two. It was fun to do something very retro electronica, in the 70s/80s vein--not quite a homage to Tangerine Dream, but one aware of its roots.
