Nice treatment for the vocals. I like the idea, but have a few suggestions.

The vocal sound level could be a bit higher to make sure it doesn’t slip behind the pad sound. Perhaps the reverb takes some of the impact away from it?

Also - I was waiting for an additional element to enter at the half point - some additional build-up to help evolve the track … but maybe that would have gone counter to the meditation idea of the track. :)

Hmm, it sounded OK to my ears. Maybe because of my equipment (i.e. cheap ear phones jacked into the Mac?)

But good point though, about the synth pad ovewhelming the vocals. Now I’m wondering if it’s because I don’t comprehend the words, and so I’ve subconsciously played them down. I treated the vocals more like another instrument in the song rather than trying ot make it the center stage. When mixing the track, I played around with the reverb settings. Finally decided on the “concert hall” setting for the right feel. I also lowered the Treble settings, as the original pell had a audible hiss.

I too, felt it lacked a punch-line if you will. But decided not to aim for perfection. For now. LOL.

Your constructive suggestions are much appreciated, Colab. I’ll keep them in mind for future remixes.

I now share the joy of Calendar Girl, Narva9, Kaer Truz and the like. This is the first remix out of my pellas, i will remember you!! When you post a pella, you have no idea of what it may come out of that. The original pella was quite monotone, and it is amazing to me how you put harmony into that (I’ve sung myself the traditional 1000 times with Oxana..i’m so used to it in its original). I also admire the respect that you pay to the Indian culture. On the song, I agree with Colab, voice seems muddy and a little too dark in the reverb. Ethnic instruments are perfect, synthed strings are a bit dated and would benefit a slight chorus or whatever (this is just my 2 cents however, don’t take it bad). The song overall has a good build up, the vocal harmonies makes it very lyrical. And, thank you

Not at all! Bad reviews are better than not having any one listen to the songs. And your review makes sense.

Yeah, I agree parts of the song seems a bit “dark”. I didn’t intentionally make that happen, but I think my mental model of the ancient Hindu gods had something to do that, i.e. life is not all fun and rosy. The one thing I intentionally aimed for was to end the song on an overall positive feel.

Hey, thanks to you for sharing the pell!

Its funny how with some songs even if you don’t understand the foreign language vocals - you can still understand the meaning. This is one of them Ivan. Very nice. Please leave it the way it is.
Great vox Carosone.

Thanks, Scomber!

I will keep Colab and Carosone’s comments in mind. But I won’t redo this track. I like a little imperfection in life (yeah, excuses… lol)
