sometimes I wonder if more people aren’t afraid of Life more than Death…..?
I love your world view….always fun to visit it!

Whoa… now I’m wondering the same thing. You know, I might personally fall into that category. Not always, but certainly at times. Thanks for listening/ visiting, Anchor- you’re so kind. And thanks for giving me a great nugget to ponder. Until again… :)

Reminded me of a spoken word I put in a song during my first recording setup years and years ago…

“In a lifetime, someone will live in fear of death,
In a lifetime, someone will die in fear of life,
In a lifetime, someone won’t know the difference”

Confronting one’s mortality has always been an interesting and fascinating subject for me.

I find it interesting too that programmed cell death starts before we are born and continues after we are dead. so we are dying before we are born and when we’re gone, we’re not quite gone yet :)

It is quite as much true to say then that we are living before we are born and after we have died -
where does life begin and end then? Are not both states a flickering reflection of one another. To me the more fascinating question is - where does consciousness reside during these life/death transits?

Indeed, hearing and listening to music starts at 18-24 weeks. As a matter of fact, it is not our skin that transforms from unspecialized skin cells into ear cells, but the other way around. We basically start off as an ear and then grow our skin. Where does consciousness reside? That is the question. I’ve seen studies where using heat imaging the first sign of bioelectric activity is at the top of the head, and at the moment of death this is the last trace of bioelectric activity. Seems it is a door, and you know what they say, when one door closes….

The juxtaposition of the gravity of the theme and the brightness of your voice is brilliant. There’s something very Laurie Anderson about this!

Thank you, rob. I’m a big fan of of contrast… try to create it whenever possible… a little sweet with the bleak. I’m not very familiar with Laurie Anderson… now I must check her out…
