you said, “Somehow not quite finished, I hope feedback will let me take this mix where it needs to go… don’t hold back now ;-)”
This mix works for me. I don’t speak French, so unless she’s sayin’ something foul; You’ve got another great remix on your hands.

I agree, The mix is good and I think it’s done.
I love the ambiant you’ve build, it really add something to the lyrics, a touch of hope…
Nice job!

Alright - because you asked. But you need to really believe that the following two things are simultaneously true:
- I love the track as it stands
- you can probably tune a few things to make it even better

For me the trick to know whether the sound levels are right is to listen to a track at a very low volume. That way it shows if the vocals are too low behind things like drums (where the higher frequencies will slip through even at low volumes). You can probably tweak that a bit.

It would also be really, really interesting to hear you change the soundscape gradually at the midpoint - right now it’s incredibly lush and full of reverb - what if you made it more dry - especially the instrumentals - for the second half - sort of a boxed in sound to keep things really interesting.

And that’s it. It’s already -worthy, so don’t go away thinking you need to change anything. But bless you for asking. :)

Hey Duckett—-I like this—I also have no idea what she is saying-although it sounds very appealing—I love the feeling you have throughout but maybe like Colab said (I think) some change would be good. The feeling I get is that she is asking questions and not getting the answers she wants—-so I would take the music in that direction, but thats just me and Im drinking wine and hit my thumb with a hammer this morning and its all funny colors so maybe you shouldn’t listen to me.

Third listen now so if it counts for anything I like it.

I always find it difficult to try and give other people advice, especially when they are obviously more talented, at least in my very humble opinion. I like it the way it is (very much so), but since you asked, I personally would probably try to vary the track a bit more. But then again, it’s just my view and not necessarily relevant for you. Anyway, a pretty good track already.

This is what I love about this site- when I upload something and ask for for feedback, I get it… from people who know their own crafty way around a DAW or two. So far the general consensus seems to be “switch it up a bit!”. I’ll go drag this back in the lab, and see what might replace it… Thanks all!

Difficult to give the ultimate advice even there is no urgent need to. There is nothing wrong on your remix and I know what you mean by asking for critics.
Sometimes some samples clever arranged and your own tracks on it really do it and its not easy to leave this way then.
There are millions of possibilities and you have choosen one and thats not too bad!
So I am the sixth person who gave you a comment that may help or not.

Ducket, you make very personal music. It would have been much easier to give some advice if you tried to copy something else, a certain style or an artist. I think this song is just fine as it is. The length, 3,15 is perfect. Had it been longer, some variations might have been neccessary. Also, lovely to hear MiElle again.

I think I’m with Per - all the advice makes perfect sense, but at the end of the day you have your own style and it works really well as it is.

Are there the faintest of echoes of Jane B and ‘je t’aime moi non plus’? - or perhaps that’s before your time ;)

If by “not finished” you mean you may add something else to it I would say don’t bother. In my headphones there’s a whole lot of reverb, as if you had it cranked on the final bus so all sounds a little “distant” physically and emotionally. $0.02 please.

I think this is great as it is, Mr Duckett (who cares what I think, with all these experts around?) I love the way MiElle’s soft, sensual voice lies against your textured, cool b/t. By the way, have I told you already that my sister thinks your avatar is by far the best on the site? Sorry if I’m repeating myself. Featherbrained! xx

This dish is definitely a tasty one and is delicious as served. If you or anyone else thinks it needs more salt, well then, that’s just a matter of taste. I definitely wouldn’t call this mix bland.

I would have mixed it in a totally different way and I would have liked mine better! But that’s my way! Your’s is great and the engineering “faults” make the mix that bit special.

Very nice work!

I always hate to be late to a happening party such as this one! (It’s only two days after the upload and I feel like I almost missed out — things just happen way too fast around here!) I love how you set MiElle’s delectible voice. As I am an emotional and not a technical listener, all I can say is I thought this was superb!

I liked this mix so much, I included it in the latest episode of The Mixin’ Kitchen! (“Tell Me” featuring fine spoken word mixes).

A very personal touch. Another way to listen to this beautiful voice. Very good arrangement, even if you think you do not get finished ….

A very “Ducket’s remix”, as i love them. A mix of atmospheres, sounds, effects, rythmns..brief, many little details very well thought..Good job..
