Great touches and a fine mix but I felt it was distorting on my ear buds.

Maybe that was the effect you wanted:o)

I am inclined to agree with you, it’s actually a battle I have with most tracks these days I hear and would say the whole `loudness’ issue is something that evades me. I would normally put my master at a broadcast level but have to say a lot of the mixes I hear on here I have to turn down as they are too loud and distort to my ears. So this one I didn’t master in the same way and left it in state that I too have to turn it down. It’s louder than anything I have put on CC before and I have replaced it once already with another version . So any way thanks for noticing and saying. :-)

Yes the loudness thing is a crime really. It’s as if no one has a volume control on their equipment anymore.

I mix to master stereo output -12db RMS and when mastering to between -5db RMS and -8 db RMS which gets somewhere in the middle of the argument but does not always satisfy everyone.

I feel you, Jeff. I’ve been lately trying to keep my average levels lower. I’m slowly teaching myself for the punchier sound with more dynamics. It’s a hard way to travel. Hard way to ignore the levels of the the adjacent tracks here, but I’m forcing myself to don’t give a f… and get better sound. ;)

It’s all interesting stuff. I try to keep the master volume level consistent with the orginal DAW tracks. Not always but mostly when I mix down I pass the master WAV thru Soundforge with a 16 bit mastering preset adding about 2DB to the body and keeping the overall peaks down to O DB. But always that is a lot quieter than most adjacent tracks on here yet technically they should be the same if others were doing that. I will have to save up and get a Fairchild 670 and see if it’s any different ;)

Great mix! Fits perfectly to diaphane’s voice. And the bass distortion - sounds plus cool.
