Process

This song came to me out of the blue. I had just set up all my studio stuff for my new comp, and wanted to try it out, and this thing was born. At first it didn't sound anything like this, but it had the various elements of the song there, and I liked where it was going. Created the basic droning synth loop first, and then added the lfo-filtered acid synth after that, and tweaked it till it resonated at points with the first synth for a neat, organic feel. Next I created the basic drum pattern, and made several different versions of it for variety and fill-ins. After the long, trancy first half of the song, I wanted to break and drop the listener into a dreamy, depeche-mode-esque vibe, so I created the chords, and the cool resonating bass line. On the bass line I didn't want to play with the cutoff filter too much, because it would overpower the chords and take away that 'dreamy' feel, so I instead modulated the midrange EQ in sync to the song, which kept it feeling organic. After all that, I needed a vocal to go in it. I searched high and low for like 2 weeks, and couldnt find anything suitable...and last night I finally found the vocals by spinningmerkaba, which really fit perfectly. Tweaked the vocals and the EQ and everything to get it all going right together, and added some little sound effects here and there to spice up the song. Checked the levels on the mixer, rendered it to wave, then compressed it to 160kbps mp3 to get it under 10mb for upload.

Other Notes

I love how this song came out. It has the exact feel that I was looking for...a club song with a trip hop trance feel to it. Hope everyone else likes it!
