This evolved very quickly and naturally from my previous mix, and uses the same backwards medieval song in the background, with a layered version of cg’s October.
The layering technique is something I developed after seeing an exhibition of art from mental hospitals - lunatic asylums as they would have been then - in the early part of the last century. There was a piece that was simply a scrawled message written by a woman on a scrap of paper, very small and close together, over and over again, so that it became a blurred pattern - it just said “come, sweetheart” (in German).
I found it incredibly moving to think of her, and I found the effect strangely beautiful, so I started to look for ways to do the same thing in music.
