When Moses Came Down From The Mountain

It is now widely accepted by the scholars that the story of Moses is more of legend than historical fact.

Now is that not such a shame

Coming down from the mountain I could see that the future we wanted could not be
You held out your hand to steady me you could see that I was frail and ill at ease

And in these hours of danger you were wise you told me I could always hide behind my lies
Your foundation was a lifeline but my heart was playing extra time I knew I had to find love before I died

At the base camp all the sherpas cheered and clapped and the Bhuddist monks sang prayers as we’d got back
The women from the town brought bread and soup and we drank their wine and devoured all their fruits

But when the cheering stopped we had to go and find some shelter and we found it in the poorest part of town
And through the night we wrestled with our dreams and premonitions we were sure that there were secrets to be found.

There is glory in the words more in the deeds the preachers spoke trying so hard to please
But their bags were packed for they had planned to leave their carriages awaited patiently

And as the old man comforted the child who had been crying for he’d lost his way and now was far from home
Moses struck a bargain with a burning bush and pardoned all the people who had mocked him like echos

As they carried all the tablets to his home somebody asked if he felt all alone
And he replied a prophets life is long days and friends are often lost along the way

But when the candles flame had almost gone they started singing for they’d heard that music satisfied the soul
And in the darkness Moses he got up and started dancing for the dancing breathed new life into his bones
