New idea, if anyone wants to help create and upload Binaural Beats. What are binaural beats? Binaural beats, or binaural tones, are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, caused by specific physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove and earned greater public awareness in the late 20th century based on claims coming from the alternative medicine community that binaural beats could help induce relaxation, meditation, creativity and other desirable mental states. The effect on the brainwaves depends on the difference in frequencies of each tone: for example, if 300 Hz was played in one ear and 310 in the other, then the binaural beat would have a frequency of 10 Hz.[1][2]-wikipedia

For more great information about brain frequencies check out:

download audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge...
Alpha 13-7Hz, Theta 7-4Hz, Delta 4Hz and less |

.
So if we can get a good library of binaural pulses others can remix by adding ambient noise, music, etc.
Please tag with Brainwave state, Frequency or frequency range, and maybe the positive benefit(s) it can induce. For example: #alpha, #8-12Hz, #relaxed, #learning #alert, #creative, #problemsolving, #motivation, #inspiration |

Creating my first binaurals for this project at your suggestion. Am wondering if there’s any value to posting flac samples, or is there a difference in effect between them and mp3? I’m doing flacs too and listening don’t think I can tell the difference. Also, sounds strange but can one make a mono version of a “bi”naural?

Awesome, thanks! You can compress full-quality aiff or WAV files into FLAC and upload them to ccM. I believe that’s currently the most compressed format you can use for full quality uploads.
You can’t make mono binaural because it’s the difference between the tones that produces the binaural pulse. It’s actually the shape of the head, sound travels to each ear and if they are just slightly different the brain perceives it as one sound…the difference, which doesn’t really exist. And it’s this imaginary tone that entrains to the brainwaves. I always thought that was fascinating. So, it’s possible it would work with speakers …but headphones work much better. Conversely, when making the tones in audacity, make sure you use mono for each tone and pan them hard left and right…stereo won’t work :) |

Good info, thanks. I wonder if E.T.s hear them differently, their heads being different shape and all… ;-)

Ha! Well, the shape of a dolphin’s head allows them to focus sound like a laser…similar to how a lens can focus light and start a fire. Dolphins use this ability to “x-ray” their food, examine others, and even kill sharks when they are in danger. They can use it to see illness in humans too…talk about sound therapy. I’m sure E.T.s would have binaural heads in most cases too…I always thought since there was self-similarity between galaxies, there would likely be self-similarity between life among them. The spiral of our DNA, the geometric ratios in the body, in music, in color…it’s all a continuous spectrum between the macro and micro. Still, even on our own little rock…there are lifeforms that dispose of their heads and nervous system altogether once they reproduce, then continue life as more of a seaweed at the bottom of the ocean…so who knows…lol

the binaural beats and tracks you have been sharing are fablous Jeris. The other night I listened to one of the as I fell asleep and I had a deep, restorative sleep. Thank you!

I came across a simple, but interesting article on the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America website about music therapy for Alzheimer’s patients. The article describes the ways in which music can be used to help dementia patients during different stages of the disease. Notably, familiar music is significant for Alzheimer’s patients. For agitated patients, music without a beat is recommended. For patients who are in the late stages of the disease, rhythmic music is recommended. Sometimes, unfamiliar music is best because the patient does not have memories associated with it.
