Love the guitar sound in this mix. So light and kind of flowing. This is not one of my favourite spirituals but you’ve done a great job with it.

I’ve been playing a lot of catch-up on CCMixter in last few days and I’m discovering one jewel after the next! This is SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO cool. I would have never thought of this context for the vocals but listening to this, it seems so damned obvious! I’m RRRREEAALLLYYYY diggin’ that country blues chug you got going on! I do have one question: Are you my vocals a tad behind the groove? I feel like I’m playing catch up in places! Nonetheless, GREAT job!!!

Thanks
Yes you’re quite right the vocals are slightly behind a little bit of the time. When I did this I kept saying to myself, mustn’t let it drag so I did the backing in double time 110bpm as against your approx 55bpm. What it did was accentuate any difference in the timing. I didn’t want to start cutting up the vocal and spoil the phrasing so in the end I compromised and moved sections to the best sounding point. Great Vocal band could have been a bit tighter. |
