I’m fascinated by how you created the sax accompaniment.
When you say you converted the wav to midi, does that mean your software takes the pitch of your voice and match it to a midi key?
Would it be weird to include the original vocal wav to compare?
I’m thinking that by humming along or scatting with a tune, I could create a midi accompaniment, too — which software works best?

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I did. I scatted along with the drums and bass mix. To convert the wav to midi I used the Bear File Converter (on-line, free). Once I had the midi I loaded it into Reason and assigned to it the sax. I imagine most DAWs would be capable of this, well, any with an instrument bank I guess.
Yes, it would be weird to share the original vocal recording. It’s… I’m tempted to say bad, but it served it’s purpose, just too raw and strange to be heard on it’s own. Which needn’t be the case when you try it yourself. I have another mix using the same formula coming up next, only for that one it ended up I quite liked the raw vocal so I didn’t follow through with the whole conversion thing.

Anyway - I’d love to hear what you come up with should you choose to experiment.

I understand, thank you for the information. As I was reading your response, it dawned on me that I could figure out how it worked by doing it myself :)

The idea that I could potentially compose music with my voice, a metronome, and online software is cosmic!

Reaper has a built in midi convertor (under ReaTune) and I wouldn t be surprised if other daws also have.
I use it every now and then to use my own synth sounds on a phrase or passage.
Best, Martin
