Thank you martinsea. You’ve done well with the older samples, which were not of the highest quality. I like the siren song concept, using the emerging vocals 2 sample.

Thank you!
The samples may indeed have been recorded roughly, but the sounds are great!
Very best

Traktor + Audacity? That’s a wild combination. :) Love how you use the poem to fade out the remix.

Maybe the description s misleading : all mxing, arrangement and FX is done in Traktor; I just use Audacity right at the end for some compression.

Glad you liked it

i’d not thought of the Odyssey in this way but now i will be able to see it no other way other than patriarchal violence now. thank you, this is a subject I’m unraveling and working to heal. this song is an Odyssey in itself, chapters of Deb’s voice scored by the incredible martinsea. what an artist you are!

Thank you, Emily
Seems like there are things which sort of stare you in the face for years, and it takes you time until you suddenly realise what they really are.
And your praise of the mix— you’re too kind!
Warm regards

Lovely arrangement that holds Deb’s spoken word with tender focus. Bravo! Thanks for being part of this special secret mixter!

Fantastic remix, martinsea!
Excellent choices and arrangement to accompany debbizo’s voice, always a treat to hear her poetry :)

Thank you Apoxode!
my current setup, mixing in Traktor, means more patience and thought, but when it works, I feel better with it. (In Reaper,or similar, you can just change a note here, drop off or add something there with a few clicks.) Currently a slower more thought out approach suits me.
We shall see…
Best,
Martin

Ditto that - slow and steady allows more development :)

I’ve always thought Penelope deserved a better deal than her lot.

I like what you’ve done musically to help give her a further voice

Thanks Gurdonark!
I liked debbizo’s poem very much.

James Joyce’s Ulysses involves a significant recasting of Penelope,( and Odysseus) and more recently the magnificent Carol Ann Duffy (in The World’s Wife)
Cheers!
