Very nicely done.
But I’m afraid for me the November Illusion is the “get out and vote” imperative. Was I the only one that noticed last time the person with nearly three million more votes lost the election? (Where is the cry for the abolishment of the electoral college?) Direct evidence our vote does not count.

I agree with you Speck. Though Im hardly qualified to comment when im 8000 miles away, but you are spot on.
Two things we do well down under.
Compulsory voting. Its a responsibility to vote here not just a right. We have also (mostly) got rid of gerrymandering ie. Politicians adjusting electoral boundaries to win the right contests to stay in power. The electoral college system seems to be a baked in version of this, but sadly embedded into the US constitution as part of the federation.
What saddens me is the way Trump is trying to hold on by encouraging division and stoking unrest to play the law and order card.
Wish you all well America. What you guys do effects the world (whether we like it or not) End rant. Cheers mate

I appreciate your response.
I didn’t know compulsory voting existed anywhere. Not a bad idea. Though I think maybe I’d rather see a simple test to qualify to vote. (Which I guess would be the opposite of compulsory voting.) Something that would indicate an IQ above that of an idiot and at least an elementary school level of knowledge of how the government works (or is supposed to work).
Ah well, one can dream.
