i like this a whole lot, but i would have loved to hear the vocals done a bit more clearly, at least in parts. it would have been a neat effect to have him rapping with certain syllables or words stuttered and timestretched. but overall very kewl man.

I like that trippy intro, which promises fun things. Then the percusison begins, and it’s all setting up nicely. The little old-fashioned synth wave works pretty well. I feel that it’s a bit bare, and if you’re going for something trip/trance, then a bit more background electronica to “smoke machine” up the action a bit might be in order.
The robotic vocals are interesting. Old sci-fi, failed synapses, pulp novels from Baen Books. It’s a good idea, and it’s not at all a long piece, but I feel that you should do more with the idea. New melodic themes, perhaps some outre freesound “space” samples, bits of “found transmissions” and dark atmosphere. This is a trip that is fine enough to take, but I feel you’ve got a trippier destination just over that Martian horizon. |
