The contrast between the guitar, the melody and the little bursts of noise are an interesting way to begin the piece. I think it’s a wise choice to let the horn have a little space, and the juxtaposition is pleasing.
The noise effect begins to cloy by 1:15. I suggest that the interpolation of additional interesting effects might have leavened it up a bit. The percussion is nice, but it might come up a bit in the mix. Nothing startlingly loud, but just a bit more prominent. The space you leave at first for the vocal chorus is just right. The noise bursts don’t really work in this section, though. The melodic parts underneath are very nice, but a little low. I like the instrumental interlude at the end very well, and it’s a nice extro. This one has a lot of great musical ideas, but the mix is a bit uneven. The noise effect that makes the mix so interesting at the beginning weighs it down by the mid-section. Yet I enjoyed listening to this one. I also think it’s cool that you go a school with a Music Technology Class. On to the future! Welcome to ccmixter. |
