In general I think you may be sufferring from the fact that as a remix site, remixes, pells and samples get a lot more attention than originals, especially ones that hard to remix.

This piece, like most of your stuff is a pretty amazing piece of music! (in a ‘hard to get drums that perfect’ kind of way ;) — seriously, I’m in jealous awe of your stuff since ‘Excepting this Fat Reaction’ —

having said you don’t make it easy to remix your stuff. It’s layered, busy, etc. It’s not *impossible* to remix it, just a lot more work then if you would, say, upload samples.

yeah, i like to write complicated music… thanks for the compliments, you make me blush. I can write simple music, but I really enjoy well-controlled complexity. I think I do because I listen to complicated music… I was musically trained in jazz and classical music and I was turned onto electronic music through the likes of Aphex Twin and other IDM dudes… if you couldn’t tell. :) CCmixter rocks hard core, but I unfortunately (to my regret) haven’t gotten into the remix-mix-remix thing as much as I’d like. What I was turned onto initially was the community of like-minded producers with mad skillz who could give me some much-needed criticism. I’ve never really had any friends (until very recently) who made e-music and who could offer honest critiques. Thanks again…. i like your stuff quite a bit too!!!

well, gee, this is awesome. criticism i’m full of, but this track really doesn’t deserve any. :) music this complex doesn’t really lend itself to criticism as long as the execution is fairly well carried out, as is the case here.

jungle beats are a fetish of mine, which naturally makes them an endeavor I’d like to pursue eventually (I haven’t yet.. gosh if I had another weekend..) maybe I’ll revisit this track then.

Well, I don’t know about that! I definitely am not ready for the big time… and there is always room for improvement. In my mind there is a ton of possible criticism for this track. I am always super critical of my own work though. For example, if I were to redo this today, there would be a LOT more variation on structure… a lot more established connections between the melody and beats… a lot less reverb (or more tasteful application)… more range of frequencies (it’s very high pitched too much)… more of a hook melody (this is just some delayed bells the whole time, though there is a cool synth bass-line halfway through)… I would have written a more clear simple beat inside the complexity (the core of good IDM is minimalistic simplicity), the structure should be more clearly defined… it’s like one long groove with random moments to catch your breath. I had good ideas in this thing, but it is as yet very immature.
