Nice grooves and beats here - I really like the use of the Rhodes, from the choppy bits in the beginning to the longer chords later on. The key parts in the chorus are absolutely fantastic!
The things I’d suggest - first of all, there’s a lot of clipping, it sounds like when the Rhodes and bass are playing at the same time. Mix it to a little lower volume to start out with - you can boost the overall volume once the final mix is exported. The vocals sometimes have problems syncing up to the beat - it’s great 99% of the time, but a little tighter editing of the vocals could make that 100% and keep the groove going throughout the whole track. Song-wise, a little more variation - say, a strings pad or something during the chorus sections, doing something as simple as doubling the Rhodes line (or holding the chords that the Rhodes is playing) - would liven this up even more. But a fantastic start - nice, thick grooves and smart instrument placement and playing. Keep it up! |

Many thanks for the kind words.
Can i just ask, do the vocals cut in too early or too late? I know i should know this but someone else’s ear can only help… Yea, i noticed the clipping but wasn’t too sure what to do about it because on another song when i got rid of clipping the volumes were really low. Just takes practise i guess.. Once again, thanks for the kind words, help and advice, it was greatly appreciated. |

OK, i’ve just re-built and re-mixed this song. I’ve altered the intro slightly, (hopefully) sorted out the timing errors, and the track doesn’t clip anymore.
Hopefully the song sounds a lot better now. I havn’t added any other music yet - i might do that later, just wanted to sort out the clipping and timing for now. So… does it sound better? |
