I havin a difficult time with this mix…I guess my main beef with it is that it is too minimal? I’m not really feelin the jingle bells they kind of take over a little too much. The hook is left naked a lot and imho it is really calling for some other sounds to fill it out, (a heavy bass melody and some deep kicks perhaps) it is too good of a hook to leave it without more underneath than jingle bell stutter stops.
I understand the amount of soul energy that goes into the creation of music, so I hope you take this criticism constructively…but when my ears compare this to a your Deseprendere mix I know that you’re capable of much better. |

I’ve noticed that a lot of modern radio-hiphop doesn’t have much fx, including reverb but this track takes that to an extreme.
There’s no such thing as a recording with zero fx on it, even it’s just to imitate the experience of being in a room where sound bounces off of walls and furniture, etc. I think the novelty jingle bells thing could absolutely work if the overall sound felt a little more natural (like it happened on earth, not in a computer). A TINY bit of reverb, compression and eq could go a long with this one. |
