I think you’re a little hard on yourself in your description. I thought that the way the transitions worked on this one held my interest. I like the way that, as it picks up momentum, you really do a lot of different things. I think your loops are creatively used here.
This mix has a lot of life to it. My main concern with it is that a lot of the instrumentation sounds pretty virtual. I don’t have any problem with “virtual-sounding” instruments in general, but here it sets back your mix a bit. I’m not an Ableton guy, but I always thought that in Ableton you can make the fx work to give you a more spontaneous sound. Still, I don’t want to take away from your mix here. You’ve got a lot of interesting variation, and the song kept my attention throughout. I like especially that last minute or so, when you’ve really hit your stride. It may be that some simple fixes, like very light reverb and a hint of delay along with maybe some exciter type fx would give this all a more “live” feel. I rather enjoyed this one as is, though. |

Thanks for the review. I didn’t really experiment with a lot of different audio effects, just a little bit towards the end with some of the guitar part. If given the option, I woud work more with live instrumentation, but I’m not in the best situation for that.
Glad you enjoyed it though… |
