Psych-hop?
Quite a challenge to veneer your beat over the original—but you pulled it off. Love the Golden Shower reference!

Hehehe, thanks, I love punching upwards.

Oh I can rap over anything, the golden age of hip hop was about rapping over anything that wasn’t as protected as The Beatles. Even Jay-Z didn’t get past the guards on that one. Loooooooooool (Google Jay-Z, The Beatles, White ablum, black album, gray album to get the story)

Some of my early favorite artists used weird samples. For instance the constant use of old time radio for me that was 3rd Bass as well as a few other DJs that would use them in their instrumentals mixes. Quite a few did. MF Doom is know for mixing that stuff in, including rapping over bits from The Cosby Kids.

I didn’t include the instrumental in the original upload so I put that up! It is fun! I got there by eliminating the gaps in your instrumental. I did it visually before I got into the sound. I found your BPM, halved it, lined everything up on beat. Then simply looked for bits where your samples got quiet, took those chunks out by bar, then ramming them right back into the deleted area so I got maximum volume/funk out of your samples the whole time. This was mainly for the organ, transitor organ and wah guitar. I used your other guitars for the bass, and then just lined up the piano to play in mathematically aligned sections.

Full on hip hop in the face :)
Quite apt for the state of the world!
That snare is perfect for your levels, not too loud and on the level with your vocals — tight!
Keep lining up those homers, coruscate :)

Ps. Love the shout outs to Zenboy1955 and ccMixter :)

Thank you! I can’t take too much credit for the drum kit other than selecting the right one from my collection. I had something on hand that was what I was deliberately searching for which was an old jazz sound, not traditional hip hop, but constructed with the same in mind. Drum Broker (website) came in handy. They do have free samples!

I’m going to try remixing some of MalreDeszik’s stuff next with a similar goal in mind.
