I like this one a lot. The vocals remind me of Jeff Buckley. Very nice. And the backing track verges on the minimal, but is very effective in its minimalism. This is a very good piece and I hope that it won’t be overlooked by the other mixters. If I still had my editor privileges I would have probably ed-picked it.

This is wonderful, Benjamin. The piano is perfect… the plucking strings punctuate the words… the natural sounds throughout are well placed… they create a contemplative atmosphere. You know, I felt meditative while listening.

Gorgeous setting, like looking through a plate glass window at a rain-drenched lawn in the greenest joy of early Summer. Very nicely mixed.

Sehr schön Ben! Mir gefallen zwar persönlich deine rockigeren Sachen mit verzerrter Gitarre etwas besser, aber Geschmäcker sind halt verschieden. Weiter so….

Danke Donnie. Mein nächster Remix wird als “Ausgleich” wieder deutlich härter sein. ;-)

Congrats on the editorial pick! It is a worthy but sad song. The latest news I’ve heard is that the Fukushima reactor was at the same level of meltdown that Chernobyl was. Russia is a giant country, so many of them could possibly escape. However, Japan is so small and densely populated that I fear for the thousands that will surely contract cancer.
On a lighter note: It is a great song. FB |

Sensitive polished minimal approach to a serious subject.
Extra points for the stems, love the piano and strings together |

I love it, not sure about the pizzacatto though but everything else is fantastic.
I’m hearing something very radioheady here. |

Thank you, Sturzstrom.

Long overdue Ed pick for you Ben! This is a different side of you I didn’t know and executed well, though I tend to like your heavy stuff more. Nice work.

Thanks, Greg. My next remix will be much heavier again, I promise. ;-)

Wonderful example of a remix enhancing and bringing out the core material, rather than burying it (a bad habit I’m still working on, heh)… Sometimes leaving the kitchen sink at home and allowing material plenty of sunlight and breathing room is the best choice- and this shows why.

Thanks, Duckett! Yes, at first I thought of adding more strings or guitars/synths in the second half. But then I came up with the idea of the thunder and rain sounds which “restarted” the song and emphasize the lyrics even more. So I started to reduce everything instead of adding things.
Another advantage of a reduced remix is that the mixing/mixdown process in the end is much easier. ;-) |
