How I Did It

Tools I Used

- Roland MC-303 Groovebox
- Reason
- FindSounds.com
- Ableton Live

Samples I Used

The vocoder was made using a recording from a live Art Blakey album (which later we found out was sampled by US3 too...)

The elephant sounds were found on the web, I don't know where they're from.

Original Samples

The rest of the song was created by ourselves using only a computer and playing live into an MC-303 Groovebox - using its own keyboard, which sucks! :)

Process

The MC parts were recorded directly using a very crappy onboard soundcard and later synched using Live.

The beats were created either in FruityLoops, Rebirth or Reason, I'm not sure. Probably Reason.

Then we assembled everything together using Acid4.

Other Notes

It was a lot of fun. We started out trying to make a hommage to oldschool rap and electro. Then we picked up the name - Jumbo Electro was an old brazilian supermarket that sold home electronics. Then we mixed things up: a little electro, and well... how about the jumbo... So we came up with the idea of sampling elephants. The supermarket's logo as an elephant too.

A few months after we finished this song we found out there was an electro group in S Paulo called "Jumbo Elektro" too. Maybe they're our fans, who knows... ;P
