Original Samples

On September 6, 2008, I visited Green Park, in Allen, Texas USA. This small suburban park sits by an elementary school and a fire station in a suburban neighborhood. It has a few picnic tables, a number of trees, playground equipment, and sidewalks through grassy areas.

I took the mallet and tapped the playground equipment, the poles, the fences, the benches, and everything else that might resonate. In this plastic age, too many things had a lifeless thud rather than a proper metallic ping. However, between the park and my own back yard I gathered a set of percussion samples. I placed three in the sawcutter synthesizer to create the melody. I added a can-jo samples (which sounds a bit like a child's electric piano here) to complete the instruments. I sequenced up the melody and percussion.

Process

I created the melody, and then added the vocal samples, utilizing fx on each vocal to give it more heft, and also cutting, 1/8th delaying, and looping part of the essesq vocal to use as a kind of coda.

Other Notes

My wife and I sure enjoyed seeing my old flame and her kind husband.

I sure remember endless discussions during my university days about relationships--and the two people who lived one.
