Process
Most of the process was pretty straightforeward. I just worked out a bunch of synths, put them all togethee into a two-movement piece.
Piano solo was recorded separately from the chords. I didn't want to sit there and fix a bunch of sour notes, or comp a series of short parts, so I just recorded the damn thing over and over again, only a single note was deleted from the take.
Vocals destroyed largely beyond coherence, inspired by the Boards of Canada. Parts were sliced up and re-arranged, other parts were reversed, others slowed down and filtered. Leslie style effects and echoes were used, as was a hard gate tremolo effect.
Other Notes
The musical portion of the track was greately inspired by old video game music, particularly Earthbound for the super nintendo.
This will be the last narrative piece for a while, as the concept is having a tendency to devour the entire track.
