Free Fall Landing Boulevard
SPLAT DOWN RACES! Memorable artists Tony Williams, Ornnette Coleman and Miles Davis inspire us to ignore patternistic protocols and formulaic arrangements. Similarly open, Speck often embraces chaotic mixes with atonal colors. Here, we sought to recreate an open and free jazz feel using phrases from waldhorn33’s Paloseco Brazz Bossa trumpet, a Latin brass section and Admiral Bob’s Pull the Trigger on My Hearts guitar to mix over discernible patterns and hits extracted from Speck’s What is this Love of. In the same open vein, offset sax lines from Bonobo’s Whitecube Plan are featured in the pre-outro break with Eb hits from Speck’s Nothing Last Forever. Outro ends with Songboy singing over samples from unreal_dm’s Em90 2016 and chord hits from Speck’s Nothing Last Forever with a repeat then fade out with ElRon’s intro. As a mash up, samples from other Speck works and other artists are victimized. Copperhead’s Love Ain’t Gonna Make a Sound drums were coaxed underneath one of Specks discernible patterns for drive. The intro and break features brushes from freakfandago, Eb hits from Speck’s Nothing Last Forever and ElRon on acoustic guitar. Tambourine by rhythmboy and some lonely hits from Speck’s garbage percussion were added for color.
