my belly button :
a funny swirl
that now has no function except to remind me
of a former time
of back then
when i was just starting up
the months when i was being formed, taking shape

when my mummy`s blood was my blood,
when the air she breathed was for me too
when she was supplying me direct
sharing everything with me
her excitements, her anticipation, her feelings
flowing straight through to me

on the day of my birth
the cord was cut and the package tied with a knot
a forget-me-not
