I loved Darkroom’s on the fly composition so I cut it up to suit, listened a few times and then did the same thing; recorded one take on the fly - stream of consciousness style.

“Sombre Street”

There’s a lamppost
down on the corner of the street
There leans a girl
who’s catching eyes with passerbys
no longer seventeen

a light of her cigarette
then I dip my hat to neon lights
her pain is there
it hides behind mascara eyes
too old to care

She could have been a movie star
with the smoke around her pretty face
couldn’t see that far

but that was yesterday
another day
another man
another trick
she walks away
